The Anahita temple is a historical site located in Kangavar County, Kermanshah province. According to historical documents and deeds the first stone of edifice was built in Achaemenid dynasty and construction of it continue until later eras and finished in Sassanid dynasty. This Temple is local for praise Anahita meaning clean and free from contamination has been the goddess of water, the guardian of the springs and rain and a symbol of fertility, love and friendship. This monument is one of the largest stone buildings in Iran. built on a natural hill with a maximum height of thirty two meters is a quadrilateral structure. The temple enjoy unique architectural structure in a way that the distribution of water in corridors in around, lead water into basin in middle of structure in an interesting way, temple considered a masterpiece in an engineering in that era. The construction of columns with high height on walls is one of unique elements in the edifice, stone and stucco mortar are main construction materials in temple.

There is no doubt that the temple is one of valuable historical building in the country that is an interesting place for tourists, historians, and lovers of historical sites. The history, oldness and the ways of construction will be worthy for visitors.
