Saffron is one of the most high-quality and precious products of Iran that has its own customers all over the world. The plant is also known as the Red Gold. It is grown in different Iranian provinces, including Khorasan Razavi and South Khorasan. A huge part of the product is exported. Iran is the biggest saffron exporter of the world that produces some 90% of it. Saffron has a unique color, taste and odor. That’s why it’s used in different dishes, along with baked rice and even in cookies. One of the most interesting tours that tourists can attend is held at the time of saffron harvesting. Visitors can accompany farmers to pick saffron flowers.
