Memorial Day of Attar Nishapuri
April 14 (25 of Farvardin first month of Persian calendar) has been named after Abu Hamid Muhammed Attar Nishapur known as Sheikh Attar Nishapuri one of Iranian poets and mystic. He was born in Nishapur in C. 1146. Asrar-Nama, Ilahi- Nama, Manṭiq-uṭ-Ṭayr, Musibat- Nama, Mukhtar- Nama, Tazkirat al-Awliya, and the Diwan of Attar consists almost entirely of poems in the Ghazal (“lyric”) form, and Qasida (“Odes”) are among his works of which Tazkirat al-Awliya is his important work. Each year coinciding with his birth anniversary different programs perform to know him in his tomb in Nishapur. Showering his tomb with flowers, presenting the results of researches on attar, book fair and calligraphy exhibition are among programs that highlight Memorial Day.
