International Museum Day

Museums are non-for-profit organizations aiming at conserving and exhibiting tangible and intangible heritage according to International Council of Museums (#ICOM). To draw attention of people to these means of cultural exchange, ICOM has been celebrating the international museums day each year on 18 May since 1977. In 2019, the theme selected for this event by the ICOM is “Museums as Cultural Hubs: the Future of the Tradition”. Iran also celebrates this day with several events, when people can visit museums free of charge.
