Shorabil Lake

Contrastingly situated, this lake is located in Ardabil urban area. It bestows splendid sceneries as well as leisure activities to the visitors. In the past, the lake was too salty, but policymakers decided to dilute the water by directing close rivers towards it. The current diluted water condition provides a basis for trout fish farming and recreational fishing. Furthermore, the lake is covered with a thin layer of white minerals that are believed to be beneficial to heal rheumatism and skin diseases. The lake has many recreational, sports and cultural facilities such as boating, athletic field, cycling tracks, zoo, amusement parks, and accommodations. What is more, Shorabil Lake hosts migratory birds that come from Russia to the south during the cold season.
