Chehel Sotoun Palace
Chehel Sotoun is one of historic building in Isfahan city. The palace has been built by Shah Abbas I (1571-1629 Ad), in Safavid era (1501-1722 Ad), covering an area of 67,000 square meters that comprising an area in Persian garden style and main building. The architecture of this palace is a combination of the art of Chinese, Iranian, and Iranian architecture. The main porch is 38 meters in length, 17 meters in width, and 14 meters in height. The most interesting places are, the hall of 18 columns, the hall of mirrors, 4 stone lions and their carvings in four corner of central pond, golden decoration and paintings in king hall, paintings of the king’s image of Shah Abbas I with a crown, some works from Safavid era, entrance to the courtyard of the mosque of Qotbieh, the mosque of Aghasi, the works of the mosque of Javabra. The number 40 in Persian literature (this number is a sign of plurality) because of this the place has been called Chehel Sotoun.
